Red-throated Wryneck, South Africa

Posted on Updated on

Red-throated Wryneck1I took this picture of the Red-throated Wryneck which can be seen on our 8 and 15 day birding trips.

Wrynecks are related to Woodpeckers, Wrynecks don’t excavate nests but use natural tree cavities or the disused nests of Barbets and Woodpeckers. They feed on ants and termites.
